In October of 1983 a group of believers living in Steele Creek and Lake Wylie felt called by God to establish a church for his glory in their neighborhood. From the beginning, our church has been and will always be committed to God’s Word as our source of truth, and the gospel as our only hope. The church first met in local homes and then formed a relationship with O’Zion AME Zion Church. This allowed Lake Wylie to worship in their sanctuary on Sunday mornings during their Sunday school time.
In June 1988, the original church was built at our current location on seven acres. Through God’s grace we were able to acquire our current 11 acres. In October of 2004, Lake Wylie Baptist Church dedicated the new sanctuary. The existing facility has been updated and converted into a family activity center.
On April 17th 2016 Lake Wylie called Jonathan Homesley to serve as Senior Pastor.
Statement of Faith
This is an edited version of our full statement of faith. For more information on what we believe check out our Membership Matters Seminar
God–That there is one God: eternally existent in three persons of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus–We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his substitutionary and atoning death through his shed blood and in his bodily resurrection.
Christ’s Return–We believe that Jesus Christ will literally return to the earth.
Holy Spirit— We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
Bible–We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible and that it is the sole authority for life and faith.
Man— We believe that man is a special creation of God, made in His image, but that through the sin of the first man, Adam, mankind fell so that all men are sinners and need salvation.
Salvation–We believe that salvation is a free gift of God received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Assurance–We believe that every person who is truly saved is forever secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eternity–We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in Heaven.
Baptism–We believe that baptism by immersion is an act of obedience unto the command of Christ.
Church–We believe that the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the head.
Prayer–We believe that every believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
