History
In October of 1983 a group of believers living in Steele Creek and Lake Wylie felt called by God to establish a church for his glory in their neighborhood. From the beginning, our church has been and will always be committed to God’s Word as our source of truth, and the gospel as our only hope. The church first met in local homes and then formed a relationship with O’Zion AME Zion Church. This allowed Lake Wylie to worship in their sanctuary on Sunday mornings during their Sunday school time.
In June 1988, the original church was built at our current location on seven acres. Through God’s grace we were able to acquire our current 11 acres. In October of 2004, Lake Wylie Baptist Church dedicated the new sanctuary. The existing facility has been updated and converted into a family activity center.
On April 17th 2016 Lake Wylie called Jonathan Homesley to serve as Senior Pastor.
Our Beliefs, Covenant & Bylaws
Lake Wylie Baptist Church subscribes to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000. We also love many of the ancient creeds of the church including the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, as well as historic Baptist confessions such as the Second London Confession and the New Hampshire Confession.
