Membership

Christianity is a personal religion, but it’s not private. Jesus calls us into membership within the local church. Within the context of church membership, Christians commit to affirming one another’s profession of faith, holding one another accountable to right doctrine and living, and they encourage one another towards Christ.

Maybe you’ve never heard of church membership before and simply want to learn more, or perhaps you are ready to pursue membership at Lake Wylie Baptist. Either way, the following information should help you know how much we value church membership and how you can become a member of our church. As you learn more about our church please ask any questions and I will help you as best I can.

Step #1: Membership Matters Class

A recurring class that introduces church membership to attenders and prospective members. In this class, we cover:

·      Session One: What is church membership, and why is it important?

·      Session Two: Why does LWBC exist and what does Lake Wylie Baptist believe?

·      Session Three: How to be a healthy church member.

Along with learning more about our church, you’ll also have a chance to build relationships with other classmates who are interested in membership

Next class dates: November 8th, 15th, & 22nd at 9AM in the Worship Auditorium

Step #2 Elder Interview

Having completed Membership Matters, those who desire to continue the membership process will be contacted by an LWBC elder to schedule a 45-minute interview. In this interview, an elder will ask basic biographical and church history questions so that we can get to know you. We’ll also ask about your conversion story and baptism. Prospective members will also sign the church Covenant and membership application.

Step #3 Member Commissioning

On a Sunday morning, an elder will present those who are submitting themselves for membership, briefly tell how their conversion story, and call for a vote of the present membership for admission to membership.

If you would like to register for the upcoming Membership Matters course, please fill out the form below. Thank you so much for inquiring into the membership process at Lake Wylie Baptist. Our mission is to glorify God by making disciples of all people, and we know that church membership is a vital component of accomplishing that mission.

Discipleship

Equipping Hour (Sundays at 9am)

Equipping Hour classes are our primary small group communities. These classes meet on Sunday morning at the 9am hour. These classes meet to study God’s Word, pray, and accomplish mission projects. We also have small groups which meet off campus.

Home Groups

We are in the process of starting home groups in the community. If you are interested in joining a home group, talk to Pastor Jonathan on a Sunday morning.
